DM Plant

Crucial component for producing demineralized water for industrial processes

About this plant

Overview

A Demineralization Plant, often referred to as a DM Plant, is a crucial component of various industrial processes. It removes mineral salts and ions from water using ion exchange resins to produce demineralized or deionized water.

How it works

The process uses cation and anion exchange resins to remove dissolved mineral salts, producing high-purity water with very low conductivity.

Why choose it

Key Features

High Purity Output Produces water with low TDS and conductivity.
Two-Bed/Mixed-Bed Options Available in various configurations.
Automatic Regeneration Efficient resin regeneration.
Corrosion Resistant Built with quality materials.
Compact Design Space-saving installations.

Step by step

Treatment Process

  1. Pre-treatment Filtration removes suspended solids and chlorine to protect the resin.
  2. Cation exchange Positively charged ions such as calcium and sodium are exchanged for hydrogen.
  3. Degassing (if required) Carbon dioxide formed in the cation stage is removed.
  4. Anion exchange Negatively charged ions such as chloride and sulphate are exchanged for hydroxide.
  5. Mixed-bed polishing (optional) A final stage produces very low conductivity water.
  6. Regeneration Resins are regenerated with acid and alkali when exhausted.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is demineralised water used for?

Boiler feed, cooling systems, battery topping, laboratories and many manufacturing processes where dissolved minerals cause problems.

When do I need mixed-bed polishing?

When your process needs very low conductivity water, for example high-pressure boilers or sensitive electronics and pharma uses.

How often are the resins regenerated?

It depends on your feed water and the volume treated. The plant signals when regeneration is due, and automatic systems run it for you.
